Klaus Ferdinand HempflingAfter having attended Klaus’ inspiring Five Block Seminar in Denmark during September 2008, I’m thinking about how to start with my horses using the wealth of information transmitted by Klaus during that time. So, I am making a ‘picadero’ today (not finished yet) in preparation for being and connecting with each of my three horses. I have decided my ‘picadero’ will be larger (approx 11m x 20m) than the one described in Klaus’ book. This is because it was evident when watching Klaus connecting with some of the horses and starting them on their ‘first dance’, the larger area allows for some impressive bursts of energy from the horse along the long side of this area. This is the approximate size of the area he worked in during his demonstrations in the seminars. Since returning home to my horses after attending Klaus’ seminars, I have been conducting myself around them with my new way of being that I have leant. All three of them look at me with the recognition and acknowledgement that I am different. They are waiting and observing what it is that I am doing differently. I have not attempted the ‘connection’ with them as yet as I also want to observe them. As I learnt, it was not for me to choose which of my horses to start with, but more that the moment and horse would reveal itself as to which one would start and when. I experienced an absolute magic moment with one of my horses just two days ago. I prepared myself with the foundation of spirit energy and body awareness before approaching and stood a half meter away from the horse’s shoulder facing him. With no expectations and no agenda, my simple intention was to politely mentally, without speaking, transmit the invitation for me to clean his hooves while he was eating breakfast. I stood there with that thought and with all the time in the world. Just he and I in the moment. Without me even touching him, he looked up turning his neck and head towards me for a few moments, then put it down again to continue eating. Again, I had no specific result in mind as it was his choice, I simply waited for an indication. I turned my body to now face his rear end, but did not touch him or move closer towards him at all. Within a moment he simply lifted and held up his hoof. I was in amazement that he even knew what I was thinking as I was simply standing with my arms straight down by my side and looking over his tail into the distance. I was not in any way attempting to move my body in a manner expressing that I was going to his leg or hoof. I was in total awe of what he had just done, this was truly a magic moment of mutual understanding, simply communicating with each other. This horse is not trained to do such a thing as lift his own hooves for cleaning. In fact he does not like anyone around him while he is eating and quite often has his ears flat back saying so. Because of how I conducted myself and approached him, there were only friendly ears. WOW! This is just a simple beginning for something very special yet to come. After reading, observing and learning directly from Klaus, It is very evident to me that the sensitive, intelligent, spiritual, majestic horse is something far beyond what most people have ever given them credit for. I believe that this new way of being with horses that Klaus demonstrates is a quantum leap beyond any of the current horse whispering type of practices of our time. |

That is marvelous! I had a similar magic moment when I sat relaxing on the ground at the fenceline, and my mare was on the other side of the fence, just standing and resting. I mentally asked her if we were connected, and if so, would she make a small mowement of some kind to show me that she understood. She turned her nearest ear towards me. I was so amazed, I mentally asked her if she would move the other ear, which she did. I mentally thanked her and told her I loved her, and she turned her head and gazed directly into my eyes....a very happy experience!
